Three Peaks Walk

Abaseen Foundation - Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

The Abaseen Foundation Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is taking place on Saturday 6th June 2015 led by our Chief Executive Helen Bingley.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The total walking distance is 39.2km (24.5 miles).

Dear supporter

It is that time of year again when, as ever, I am not too proud to ask - would you consider sponsoring me in my effort to raise funds for our work in North West Pakistan? You don't need to give a lot, no matter how small a donation you make I can personally guarantee that you will make a difference to the life of a child who is so poor you cannot imagine the hardship they face in life.
The first picture below illustrates the children returning home, the second picture is of the kitchen and what is available to the whole family for their one meal per day and the third picture is the same children proudly wearing their school uniforms, that they love, funded through money raised in the UK.

I have recently returned from Pakistan where I was inspired to do more and was deeply moved when I met the teachers from our schools who are so devoted to their work that, despite the shooting of more than 100 children in a school in Peshawar at Christmas, they continue to work in our schools every day knowing the personal risks they face.

Thanks to your help and support we have continued to expand the size of the schools by adding new classrooms and we are developing a very good reputation with the local tribes for providing high quality education to their children, I have witnessed this myself during meetings the children, the teachers and people from the local area. We recently had a very positive audit report from the Department for International Development (I can send this to you if you would like to read it).

The challenge I am asking you to sponsor this year is a little different, 30 teachers and the headmistress from Waterhead Academy in Oldham (a school that we have twinned with our schools in Pakistan) have decided that they want to walk the Three Peaks of Yorkshire to raise money to support the children and teachers in the schools in Pakistan.

The challenge for me is to get them all round safely!!!! The challenge is to walk/run 24 miles and 5300 feet in under 12 hours – see attached.

If you would like to sponsor me there are several ways to do so:1. Make a donation on line at
2. Make a direct donation into our bank account, details as follows:

Sortcode 01-54-90
Account number - 29440270
Account name – Abaseen Foundation UK
3. Send a cheque to me made payable to Abaseen Foundation UK to – Forge House, Forge Mill, Caton, Lancaster, LA2 9NB

The headmistresses from our schools in Pakistan are visiting the UK in October and there will opportunities for you to meet them, I will keep you informed about the events planned.
