Visiting the Foundation’s Projects in KP Province

Recently, a team of Abaseen Foundation UK trustees had the privilege of visiting our projects near Peshawar. The team, which included Lead Trustee for Research Nicola Lowe and Associate Trustee Victoria Moran, faced some stark challenges due to the rainy weather – turning roads to rivers. Despite this, the journey highlighted many promising developments.

One such highlight of our visit was spending time with the degree and A-level students at Abaseen’s schools, engaging in interactive English language activities. It was great to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of these students at honing their language skills through games and conversation.

The team also had the opportunity to visit the new nursery classes, where we witnessed the early stages of education taking root. Planting trees on the site of the new school also served to symbolise the growth and potential that education brings to the community.

During our visit, we met with representatives from the World Food Programme to discuss plans for developing the college canteen and community kitchen. Furthermore, we had the privilege of sharing our expertise in maternal and child nutrition through lectures and workshops at Rehman Medical Institute and Khyber Medical University. These sessions aimed to empower healthcare professionals and students with knowledge and skills to improve the health and wellbeing of women and children in the region.

Site for new developments.

As Lead Trustee for Research, Professor Nicola Lowe is at the forefront of Abaseen Foundation's efforts to tackle "hidden hunger" and other forms of malnutrition. Through collaborative research projects with academic institutions and community members, we are working towards alleviating nutritional deficiencies and promoting the health and development of children and adolescents.

Our visit reaffirmed our commitment to Abaseen Foundation's mission, of creating positive change in Pakistan’s KP province. We are grateful for the opportunity to witness first-hand the impact of our projects and look forward to continuing our efforts to empower communities and improve lives.
